Hurricane Harvey Relief

Bishop Parkes has asked that parishes participate in a fund raising effort for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.  We will have a special collection (as part of our regular collection) on the weekend of September 9th & 10th.  Envelopes will be available in the pews.  Checks may be made out to St. Raphael.  In the mean time, we now have TEXT TO GIVE available for anyone who has a parish On-Line Giving Account.  If you have an active account, and your cell number is part of the account information you may TEXT a donation to 727-478-3044.  Text the amount of donation, followed by a space and then the code HHR  (example  25 HHR).  You will receive an immediate acknowledgement.  The TEXT TO GIVE is available until September 11th.


KOC  Pancake Breakfast

Sunday, September 3rd

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting another Pancake Breakfast following the 8am and 9:30am Masses on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017.  Begin September right, take the morning off from cooking and join the Knights for fellowship and a tasty breakfast.


Bible Study Returns

Beginning Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. 

 

The Wednesday Morning Bible Study begins September 6th with The Bible and the Sacraments by Matthew Lenorad.  The program runs from 9:15am until 10:45am.  To register or for more information please contact Marybeth Finster at mbfinister@tampabay.rr.com.   

The Wednesday Evening Bible Study will begin with Ephesians by Jeff Cavins.  The sessions begin after the 7pm Mass (7:30pm) and run until about 9:00pm.  For more information or to register please contact Tara Kipp at skipp1@tampabay.rr.com.


Faith Circles Resume

Faith Circles begin again.  At least six weekly Faith Circles will be meeting at different locations and times with discussions on various topics including Resisting Happiness, Opening the Word, and 33 Days to Merciful Love.  Watch the bulletin or our website for specific details on how to sign up.


Parish Blood Drive

 

The Oneblood bus will be here on Sunday, September 10th from 9am to 1:00pm.  Roll up your sleeve and help the many people who depend on blood donors like you! 


 

Father Daughter Dance

 

"A Night in Wonderland"

Friday, September 9th 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

All school aged daughters are invited to bring Dad, Grandfather, or other Father figure to A Night in Wonderland filled with fun, music, dancing and games.  Photographers will be on hand!  Cost is $40 per couple or $50 for two or more daughters.  Contact Katherine Zehr at 602-741-7847, kzehr727@gmail.com for more information.                             


Sunday Faith Formation

FIRST DAY - Sunday September 10th

 

Sunday Faith Formation Classes begin promptly a10:45am on Sunday, September 10th.  If you have yet to register you may  Register here.  Please contact Lynn Edmonds in the  Faith Formation Office for further information or assistance.  We look forward to the Sunday Faith Formation program, helping our young children become better aware of their relationship with Jesus.

There is a Parent Teach-at-Home meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 12th in the St. Joseph Room starting at 7pm.


First Reconciliation and First Communion

The First Reconciliation and First Communion class takes place on Tuesday, September 5th or  Monday, September 11th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  If you have yet to register please contact our Faith Formation Office at 727-821-7989 or ledmonds@st-raphaels.com.

If you have a child who has not been baptized, or is in Gr. 3 and up, and has not made their First Communion please contact the Faith Formation Office so we can assist you in bringing your children to the sacraments.


 

Youth Ministry Kick Off

Sunday, September 17th and Monday, September 18th

 

High School & Middle School teens won't want to miss either of these opening nights of the Youth Ministry Program!

  • High School youth gather for 5:30pm Mass on Sunday, September 17th with the kick off event following in the Parish Center.  Dinner will be served, please bring athletic clothes to change into for the main event, Inflatable Challenges.
  • Middle School youth come together on Monday, September 18th from 6:30pm-8pm in the Parish Center.  We'll have a survior themed night, teens should wear athletic clothes.

Altar Server Training

Saturday, September 16th or Tuesday, September 19th

 

Altar Server training will take place on Saturday, September 16th, 10am to 11:30am or on Tuesday, September 19th, from 6 to 7:15pm.

All servers through 7th grade are expected to attend two trainings per year.  Those in 3rd grade and who have received 1st Communion are welcome to join us.  Please contact Mr. Mark Early at 688-8266 or St-Raphael-Altar-Server @outlook.com for questions or more information.


Get to Know Medicare

Free educational seminar on Tuesday, September 19th at 5:30pm in the Parish Hall.  Lean about the basics of Medicare and how to enroll.  You may RSVP to Dayna Schafer at bbgagent@verizon.net.


Faith Community Nursing

 

Blood Pressure Screening Returns - September 17th & 18th.

 

St. Raphael Faith Community Nursing will be offering Blood Pressure Screening after all the Masses on the 3rd weekend of the month.   Testing will be offered in the Parish Hall following the Masses. 


40 Days for Life

September 28th through November 6th

 

St Raphael Parish Respect Life Committee will once again participate in the 40 Days for Life Campaign.  Our dates to pray outside the All Women's Health Center are October 10th and October 14th.  This is an opportunity to support the dignity of human life beginning with conception.  The recent incidents raised in the media make this an opportune time for us to act and speak out as Christians.  Sign-up will take place in the Narthex the weekends of Sept 23/24 and September 30/October 1st, or contact Mary Stoft, 422-4001 to sign up.
