As a community of faith, we at St. Raphael Catholic Church welcome all to serve as ministers of music. Please consider joining us for any of the following opportunities. All roles are flexible- we will work with your schedule and desired frequency of participation.
In living our parish vision of believing we are directed by the grace, actions, and good news of Jesus Christ, in order to becoming an open, inviting, and growing spiritual community commissioned through our Baptism and the Eucharist, our music ministry extends our mission by striving to provide music that prays and helps us pray to our Lord and ministers to the spiritual needs of all who come to worship. We gather to worship God with our whole selves in mind, body, and spirit. Let us celebrate our Lord by joining our voices together to be one voice that joyfully praises and thanks our God.
All adults of the parish are invited to join choir! In addition to the usual music sung during Sunday worship, the choir also sings a variety of repertoire representing all periods and cultures of music in the Church's rich musical tradition. The ability to read music, although helpful, is not required. Currently, the adult choir provides music for the Sunday 11:30 Mass, but we are hoping to form other choral groups at other Masses as well.
Time Commitment
Every Tuesday night for rehearsal (Labor Day through Pentecost) from 6:30-8:00pm in the sanctuary, and 45 minutes before Sunday worship to warm-up and prepare for the service. Personal practice and preparation.
Note: seasonal choirs will also be formed to participate in holidays and liturgical seasons, such as Christmas, Easter, and holy days of obligation. These are designed to allow for short-term participation for special periods in our parish.
The Family Choir is open to families of the congregation. The Family Choir sings at certain weekend services during the academic year, major feasts and solemnities, and special occasions such as Christmas Eve and Easter.
